Website Development
My aim for this page is to provide useful topics with respect to creating web pages, especially utilizing WordPress.
Live Webinar Training – Gain access to this recently recorded webinar to demystify the process of creating a WordPress blog here.
How to play audio on your WordPress pages
How to hide WordPress pages – I don’t want all my informative pages to appear in the wordpress list of pages because there will be just too many, so this useful topic is explained here.
W3 Schools – is an absolutely invaluable source of reference material. They state that they are a training site only, but for programming reference you cannot beat it. I have many expensive reference books on my shelves, however as w3schools has grown, I found I opned them less and less and the dust is gathering. Take a look here.
php.net – is another invaluable resource. When writing web pages in PHP, I have always utilized this site (although I see w3schools has plenty now too). You can find the language reference here.
mysql.com – if your website is doing anything useful, you are going to have a database behind it. This is almost certainly going to be MySQL and if you are writing web pages in PHP (the best combination with PHP), you can find the MySQL reference pages here (and the reference pages at the PHP website here.
What is the little Smiley in my Blog? I kept wondering what that strange little Smiley character was that kept cropping up on my pages. I found the answer – quite simply WordPress stuffed it in to help track usage of their software and more importantly to enable the stats feature on your Blog. Well that’s ok by me because it’s easy to use, easy to get new people up and running and it’s free! Here’s what the support page says here.
Web Page Colours – I’m continually having to go find the right colours for the web pages I’m developing, so I pulled some useful stuff together here.
